October saw 1 Bridge Street a buzz with a new breed of business people as Boomtown move into the area. The transformation of what is now the stylish new home of Boomtown Strategic Brand Agency’s Port Elizabeth Office is remarkable, with the Baakens Valley building now home to the agency and various other tenants.

“The investment into the area required a lot of bravery as the valley has been a rather depressed area in the past. We’re convinced that will change in the near future. It’s a beautiful area, very central to anywhere in Nelson Mandela Bay and has the heritage that the rest of the Bay is lacking. It’s a diamond that needs a little polishing,” said Neil Hart, Managing Director of Boomtown.

Although Boomtown moved in on October 10, the official opening of the Boomtown offices to clients was held on October 25. The Fiesta saw clients, and staff members light up the Baakens Valley with traditional Spanish music, a red carpet, lights and a good party that will not easily be forgotten.

The new Boomtown office is a vast open space that has been intelligently separated to create areas for inspiration, team work, meetings and fun - every agency needs to play a little. Open roof trusses and large scale windows from floor to ceiling allow for maximum natural light flowing into the building with a mezzanine area, which has been created to maximize the high roof of the building.

The design of the interior was a strategically thought out process to make use of existing materials combined with a mix of new materials. The interior is a mix of rough, exposed brick walls and polished concrete floors, reclaimed doors from the old building used as screens and sleek furniture to keep a modern feel. The sections create a place for team members to effortlessly communicate about projects but allow for concentration and focus, resulting in a well balanced working environment.

“We love the new building as it really portrays the culture that we at Boomtown live everyday. Open space to let ideas flow freely, quiet places to strategise and an ideal combination of functionality and aesthetics,” added Hart.
