Channel24 breaks records

Entertainment website, Channel24, has broken all previous records by hitting the 427 822 unique domestic user mark in July (Effective Measure July 2011).

“Channel24 has shown remarkable growth over the past year,” says Editor of Channel24, Annel Malan. Under Malan’s leadership the site has grown with more than 350 000 unique users in less than a year, according to Nielsen’s Market Intelligence.

The latest figures put the website at the 10th most popular site overall in South Africa and by far the country’s biggest entertainment focused website. Channel24 publisher, Deirdre Ingpen, puts the site’s astounding success down to its redesign in October last year.

“The re-launch saw us adding breaking local and international entertainment news and gossip to our existing pillars of movies, music and TV. News24 had previously published these but we felt the readerwas better served if all the entertainment content was housed in one place.”

“And it worked.” says Ingpen, “we haven’t looked back.” The website has become an important interactive platform for people interested in entertainment news and gossip says Malan. “At Channel24we are focusing more and more on showcasing our reader’s opinions and reviews. We have very active social media streams and often use Twitter to break high level entertainment news.”

“The future looks very bright for Channel24,” says Ingpen. “Users can look forward to continued top breaking local and international entertainment news, a growing mobile platform and a daily entertainment newsletter.”
