Award-winning activation and event management agency, Maverick Experience Exhilarator, recently wrapped up an intense series of sportainment activations for Cricket South Africa over the 2011/2012 cricketing season.
The activations which encompassed 140 matches including international tests, the domestic leagues as well as all T20 encounters was the single largest series of activations Maverick has overseen to-date.
“We had to overcome a number of obstacles when we were appointed,” says Maverick Joint-MD Andrew Ross. “The biggest of which was to get more people into the various stadia around the country.”
“Support for the game is always stronger in bigger centres, but in the outlying areas, we had to dig deep into our box of tricks to ensure the experience off the field complemented the action happening at the stumps. Fortunately we have a wealth of both local and international experience to draw on, in order to achieve this goal.”
Sportainment development and evolution are basic foundations that Maverick has always prided themselves on. For the MiWay T20 Cricket Challenge for example, these innovations included mascots, dancers, player dug-outs as well as DJ’s and smoke, flames and even fireworks to add to the in-stadium experience.
“Our brief was clear: create unforgettable family-orientated experiences that kept the spectator community coming back for more. And as the season closes I’m confident that we not only achieved this, but helped create a stronger following for the all format of the traditional game,” concludes Ross.
