NAB supports Mandela Day
Joining thousands of South Africans in support of Mandela Day, the Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB) spent not just 67 minutes, but several hours yesterday at the Hayani Support Project for the Destitute in honour of Mandela Day.
The team arrived at one of the home’s satellite projects in Alexandra to provide care and upliftment to the organisation’s 70 toddlers. “Our entire staff made an individual commitment in some small way, either by providing non perishable food or children’s clothes and games etc,” says NAB’s Joint MD Gill Randall.
“Our friends at The Grillhouse donated boerewors rolls which we prepared on site and we provided other refreshments as well before the kids entertained us with a few songs. It was truly humbling to have the opportunity to spend time with the kids - an experience we will not quickly forget.”
The Hayani Support Project for the Destitute cares for destitute women, orphaned and vulnerable children. The home operates in Berea, the Johannesburg CBD and in the Alexandra and Diepsloot townships. A secondary priority of the project is to promote community development self help projects among destitute women.
